The workshop ‘Traduciendo feminismos en zigzag’ proposes a space for reflection on Latin American feminist thought and translation as a critical and collaborative tool, taking as its starting point the work of writer, editor, and journalist Gabriela Wiener.

Wiener's work, deeply marked by her experience as a Peruvian artist living in Europe, explores persistent racist and patriarchal structures, as well as forms of relationship, desire and the body. She is the author of Sexografías (2015), Nueve lunas(2015), Llamada perdida (2014) and Una pequeña fiesta llamada eternidad (2023), among others. She was awarded the Premio Nacional de Periodismo del Perú and the Premio de la Ciudad de Barcelona for her most recent book, Atusparia (2024). Her autobiographical novel Huaco Retrato (2021) was nominated for the International Booker Prize and has been translated into several languages. She has staged numerous performances and is co-founder of Sudakasa, a collective artistic work residency in Spain.

The event is part of a larger project dedicated to the translation into German of key feminist texts from Latin America, which will soon be published in the anthology La marea feminista: Kunst, Literatur und Aktivismus in Lateinamerika by editors Estefanía Bournot (independent researcher, Österreichische Akademie der Wissenschaften), Jana Kluiber (PhD candidate at IRTG Temporalities of Future), Doris Leitner (freelance translator) and Nora Zapf (Universität Augsburg, poet and translator)
